Televangelist Benny Hinn's Kenyan crusade turned political

CS Moses Kuria critics Benny Hinn's approach on Israeli-Palestinian conflict

The globally renowned televangelist, Benny Hinn, has once again faced criticisms from his preaching’s on his crusade at Nyayo stadium over the weekend.

The cabinet secretary Moses Kuria has criticized Benny Hinn's preaching over his approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“It is wrong to give an Israeli preacher an opportunity to give one-sided views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on national TV and in such a quasi-state function”

CS Kuria argued that Kenya still maintains a neutral stance, of advocating for cessation of hostilities in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the pastor’s approach can be used to compromise Kenya’s stand given that he is a global public figure. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a sensitive topic, whereby any misinformation could arouse tension, with most nations still assessing their diplomatic relations in the Middle East affairs.

Benny Hinn's preaching’s and life decision have been seen to contradict in certain circumstances causing reactions and debates on where he stands with many doubting his doctrines and practices.

Reuben Kigame, a renowned gospel musician star is among those who critic Hinn's actions, claiming most of his preaching’s are not based in the Bible. The gospel star allegedly stated that Benny Hinn's Kenyan crusade was to help clean up the image of the church following the last general elections.

“I don’t understand what that means except to say that, if the Kenyan church messes, it should not ask Benny Hinn to clean up the mess for them,” the Facebook statement read.

Earlier on, Benny Hinn had shared a video claiming the crusade was an invitation by the Kenyan first lady mama Rachel Ruto.

“Something amazing happened, the first lady of Kenya flew from Nairobi with her team, just for one reason; to ask me to come back to Nairobi for a nationwide government sponsored crusade,” Hinn said

However, Archbishop Harrison Ng’ang’a, who is the chairperson of the meetings organizing committee said otherwise, stating that the mega event had been organized by the churches of Kenya both mainstream and evangelical. This was also confirmed by the first lady Rachel Ruto.

“I thank the church of Jesus Christ for hosting pastor benny Hinn and giving selflessly to make the crusade a success,” Rachel Ruto stated.

The crusade event was also attended by President William Ruto.
