Lead singer of Morgan Heritage reggae band Peter (Peetah) Morgan dies at 46

The family of peter Anthony Morgan, the lead singer of the popular reggae band Morgan Heritage announced his death on Sunday in a statement on social media.

Morgan’s family thanked his fans in advance for their love and support while requesting for privacy as the Morgan heritage family grieves. However, the cause of his death is yet to be shared.

“It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, brother and lead singer of Morgan heritage, peter Anthony Morgan, has ascended today, February 23, 2024. Jah come and save us from ourselves because love is the only way,” the Instagram statement read.

The Morgan heritage band started in 1994, comprising of ‘Peetah’ Morgan and his sons. In 2016, the band won a Grammy for best reggae album “Strictly Roots”.

Jamaican prime minister, Andrew Holness shared his condolences on X (twitter), referring to Morgan’s death as a “colossal loss” for the reggae music.

Morgan was the son to a renowned Jamaican reggae singer Denroy Morgan.
