Kenya ranks 114 in the 2024 World Happiness Report

Out of the 143 countries Kenya ranked 114 in this year’s world happiness report, which is a drop from 111 in the 2023 report.

Kenyans have been facing tough economic times resulting to high cost of living and the new taxation strategies issued by the current administration.

The happiness levels are placed through survey and analysis of individual’s assessments of their lives. This includes freedom to make life choices where Kenyans were asked if they were satisfied or dissatisfied with their freedom to choose what they do with their lives.

The annual world happiness report says that the happiest group are the young people aged below 30 and the unhappiest group are the persons aged between 45 and 59.

The reports are a products of the American management consulting company Gallup, the United Nations sustainable development solutions network and the wellbeing research center at the University of Oxford.

However, in East Africa, Kenya is ahead of Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
