Kenya collaborates with the UAE in creating Geo-thermal powered data center

Kenya and the UAE have signed a memorandum of understanding between kenya’s EcoCloud and UAE’s G42, in efforts of developing a global data center powered by geothermal energy.

The agreement was signed by Amos Siwoi, CEO of EcoCloud and Peng Xiao, CEO of G42 in the presence of his Excellency president William Ruto and the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Salim Ibrahim Alnaqbi.

According to the EcoCloud CEO, the strategic partnership is important in ensuring Kenya is at the forefront in becoming a digital hub. The partnership is expected to expand Kenya’s digital infrastructure to cater for the youthful population in Kenya.

“This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability and innovation. By harnessing the power of geothermal energy, we are not only meeting the regions data needs but also setting a new standard for eco-friendly infrastructure,” Eng. Amos Siwoi said

Additionally, the group CEO of G42, Peng Xiao explained on how the partnership will impact economic sustainability and innovation.

“G42 is proud to be at the forefront of combining groundbreaking technology with sustainability. This geothermal-powered data center is a milestone towards realizing Kenya’s potential as a global digital hub,” he stated
