Women MPs probe for CS Nakhumicha’s health sector disarray

Women members of parliament have pushed for the removal of Susan Nakhumicha as the health Cabinet Secretary saying she has only caused disorganization in the sector.

Led by the Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, the MPs have showed their discontent over the halting of the Linda Mama Programme which was meant to help women from humble backgrounds pay for delivery services.

“You are embarrassing us, as fellow women. You’re putting us in a fix, we want to protect you but you can’t be the one sabotaging fellow women. You can’t expect women to hold on, we can’t tuck in babies in our stomachs waiting for July. Before you put us in an awkward situation where we have to confront you, please reconsider you decision,” the Suba North MP said

According to them, CS Nakhumicha has failed in her duties especially with ongoing doing strike saying it has affected mothers the most hence she should resign from office.

They women MPs shared their worry saying women are dying in health facilities due to lack of medical care and proper attendance.

Linda mama programme was established by the former first lady Margaret Kenyatta and the state halted its services with claims of a new health fund that will replace the NHIF.

CS Nakhumicha is expected to appear at the plenary of the house on Wednesday to answer questions concerning the ongoing doctor’s strike
