Opposition leader Raila Odinga reassured his follows that his exit from national politics for the African Union Commission chairman job would lead to an immediate replacement.
The opposition leader, on Thursday mentioned two of his most entrusted political party leaders to replace him if he steps aside to be Ali Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya.
However the big question is whether Raila’s successor will have the ability to retain the organizational intuitiveness that he had. The ODM party leader has been known for major ethnic control that added up to his massive followers which allows him act on their needs in terms of challenging the government, serving the opposition role.
Raila’s remarkable ways that made him maintain his political influence over and over include his ability to forge alliances with every administration that takes over governance. His latest being President William Ruto, who ended up supporting his AUC candidature, a year after trying to discredit Kenya kwanzas governance.
The ODM political secretary Opiyo Wandayi has also declared his interest in the position should Raila step aside. Wandanyi who is also the national assembly minority leader has clarified that Raila Odinga will maintain his leadership in the party even after getting the AUC job.
“Media seems to imply that two camps are developing in ODM, there are no camps that I know of in ODM, the party remains one indivisible entity under Raila,” he stated
The alleged split is said to be between the two potential leaders for the replacement of Raila odinga, Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya should his bid for the AU position become a success.
