The late Kelvin Kiptum to be honoured at the London Marathon set to happen on Sunday

Kenya’s marathon runner the late kelvin Kiptum will be honored at the London marathon that will be happening on Sunday.

The marathon world record holder was to participate in this year’s London Marathon but was involved in car accident in February where he met his death alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana in western Kenya.

Speaking in an interview, the London Marathons director Hugh Brasher revealed that the event will begin with a tribute to Kiptum to celebrate his him.

"What we will be doing... is celebrating him… And we will be saying some words beforehand and asking all the participants to participate in 30 seconds of applause for Kelvin - for the life that we didn't know, for the man that we didn't know, but also for what he had achieved, for the man that he was and for the tragic passing of his life earlier this year,” Brasher stated

The Kenyan marathon runner, who died at 24, has set records in his short lived career, starting with his first marathon in Valencia, his historic finish in Chicago and his win at the last London marathon.
