The judiciary embarks on a paperless filling system

Court pleadings and documents to be accessed online as from July 1

Chief justice Martha Koome has launched the e-filling strategy to be used in all court stations in the country as from July.

Speaking on Monday, 11th march at the Supreme Court, chief justice Koome has announced that pleadings and court documents will be accessed and processed online.

“Thus, no court should print pleadings and documents from July 1, 2024. The resources that go towards the purchase of printing papers will be used to buy desktops and laptops,” she stated

In alignment with the judiciary’s commitment to green justice, embracing the e-filing system is a conscious effort to reduce the sectors environmental footprint.

“Through e-filling, we are demonstrating that the pursuit of justice can go hand in hand with environmental sustainability, setting a precedent for eco-conscious practices in the public sector.” She said

Additionally she said that a comprehensive reorientation programme will be conducted for the next three months to ensure that all judges, judicial officers and staff are acquainted with the programme.
