Senate Rejects National Assembly's Bid to End Supremacy Battle

Efforts to resolve the enduring power struggle between the Senate and the National Assembly have hit a roadblock as the Senate dismisses a crucial bill proposed by the National Assembly.

The bill aimed to clarify the roles of both houses, but the Senate's Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights Committee have recommended its rejection, citing concerns over its constitutionality.

“The committee recommends that the Bill be rejected by the Senate at second reading stage, to pave way for mediation on the Bill as contemplated under Article 113 of the Constitution,” the report read

The rejection highlights the entrenched discord between the two houses, raising doubts about the prospects for cooperation and harmony. The impasse underscores the need for reconciliation and finding common ground to address the underlying issues fueling the supremacy battle.
