President William ruto has issued an order to the National Youth Service (NYS) to provide land to host individuals who have been displaced by the floods due to heavy rains being experienced countrywide.
Speaking on Thursday President Ruto said that the government has authorized the NYS to offer part of their land to temporarily move people who are living in dangerous conditions contributed by the heavy rains as the governments sorts for better measures.
"This morning I have authorized the National Youth Service to provide land for those people who are living dangerously in some of the areas for them to be moved from those areas into some safe ground as we decide what to do with them next. I will be having another emergency session with our multi-agency teams to make sure we provide adequate support to those in need and to move citizens who are in dangerous areas that may be susceptible to floods and unfortunately we may have to move some of them even without them agreeing,” Ruto said
Additionally Ruto said the special programs ministry will coordinate food and other amenities to support the affected families.
currently the government has deployed financial and human resources as well as public equipment’s to mitigate the adverse effects of the floods on people’s property.
