President Ruto Inaugurates the Nexgen Packaging EPZ in Athi River

President William Ruto has marked yet another milestone in industrial development in the country by taking part in the opening of Nexgen Packaging Kenya EPZ Limited company in Athi River.

Speaking during the official opening the NPK EPZ Limited at the Export processing zone in Athi ricer on Tuesday, President Ruto announced that his government has come to an agreement to reduce electricity tariff for manufacturing industries by 5O% as from May.

“We are working on how to make sure that the cost of power is investor and manufacturer-friendly. The first step we have agreed with the industry is that those who will produce at night because we have excess power at night, we are going to reduce tariffs by 50%.Initially, it used to be a requirement that for you to benefit from that 50 percent electricity tariff reduction at night, you must produce at full capacity during the day. We have agreed that from May 1, that requirement won’t be necessary,” Ruto revealed

That being said, the president has called upon investors countrywide to take advantage of the opportunity to increase their production in the manufacturing sector.

The head of state promised he would help in providing connections by bringing more individuals into the industrial circle to create more opportunities for Kenyans.
