President Ruto Directs all Schools to Resume on Monday, May 13

President William Ruto has announced that all schools will resume on Monday, May 13.

Speaking at the State House on Wednesday, President Ruto announced the new reopening dates saying the weatherman has already assured that the weather will not be posing any risks to the students.

"All parents are advised, on the assessment of weathermen and the Government of Kenya, it will now be safe. We have made adequate arrangements, we have asked Members of Parliament and we have provided resources through NG-CDF for repair of classrooms and other learning facilities across Kenya and therefore, all schools will be opened on Monday next week and therefore parents must prepare their children to go to school," Ruto said.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu had postponed the reopening earlier on due to heavy rains that had caused flooding’s and displacement affecting the ability to carry on with the scheduled dates.

Government reports had confirmed data showing schools had been adversely affected by the ongoing floods with some hosting displaced individuals in various parts of the country.
