President Ruto calls for leader’s seriousness in the fight against drug abuse

President William Ruto has called upon leaders to demonstrate seriousness in the fight against drug abuse in the country by taking lead in the fight.

Ruto has condemned leaders who actively consume some of the drugs that the government has been fighting against saying they have to lead by example for the measures to be effective.

“What moral authority do we have as leaders to lecture other people over drugs if we are the ones taking shisha? As leaders we must lead by example in everything we do so that other Kenyans can emulate us. Am speaking to you as your Christian brother, the same way I tell other people.” Ruto stated

President Ruto issued advice regarding shisha consumption saying it destroys youths, making the country lose potential skills that could have impacted in various ways.

“hii kitu inaitwa shisha iko na kisirani, mjichunge so that we do not get addicted,” president Ruto warned

Recently, the government has been putting measures to curb drugs and substance use leading to closure and revoking of licenses of various clubs countywide.
