Breaking down in tears, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi shared a story of a widow in Migori County who was forced to 'sell' her body to raise her kids.
During her meeting with religious leaders in Kilifi County, on Thursday, She pointed out that acts of compassion towards the widow need to go beyond religion and instead act on the situation at hand.
“I recently went to Migori and a widow told me she sells her body to feed her children. And we are still talking about religion! It is very bad. Just ask yourself if that was your mother doing that to feed you and get your school fees. We need to go beyond religion and get them out of this mess,” she stated in tears
Pastor Dorcas urged the religious leaders to unite and push for ways to help women in the society regardless of their religious differences.
“There is no religion when it comes to addressing this issues. Christians, Muslims and Hindus and people from other religions are all suffering. That is why I do not care which religion you belong to, you are my sister and brother,” she stated
The DP’s wife revealed that she relates with the women’s hardships given that she was raised by a widow together with her siblings after their father passed way.
