Parliament Votes to Investigate Agriculture CS Linturi's Conduct With Overwhelming Majority

The members of parliament have agreed to form a selected committee to investigate the Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi over Gross Misconduct.

In debate conducted on Thursday, a total of 149 members voted in favour, 36 rejected it while 3 of the members abstained.

The select committee will comprise of 11 members, six from the majority side which is Kenya Kwanza, four from the minority side and one Jubilee representative.

The teams are expected to submit the names of the nominated members later this afternoon. The House business committee will then be required to bring a motion to the House for consideration of the names.

A vote will be conducted where the members may either approve the list as it is or drop some names. Once fully constituted, the committee will be required to report back to the house within 10 days.

 The House will embark on a month-long recess with immediate effect.

In order for the select committee to proceed out of the 349 members, at least 116 were required to participate in the voting.
