Ndindi Nyoro speaks out over the increasing tax burden for Kenyans

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro ha shown his discontent in the approach being adopted to introduce new taxes to Kenyans, saying it will negatively affect businesses.

Ndindi Nyoro who is the chairperson of the National Assembly budget committee argued that the Kenya Revenue Authority and other government agencies should ensure public participation is effectively done before introducing new taxes that directly affect all Kenyans.

“As you make changes and especially increasing duty like the one we did recently it is important to call stakeholders and engage them,” Nyoro said.

Nyoro explained the negative effect the increments have on businesses saying that the depreciating dollar against the Kenyan shilling already led to business owners importing goods with high rates.

According to him, a negative effect on the business directly affects the consumers posing high cost of living for Kenyans.

“Our work is to incentive the business and most businesses will have a ripple effect of passing the high cost to consumers,” he stated

He urged the government agencies to work to empower businesses for success.
