National Assembly Opposes Sale of MP Salasya's Vehicle Over Debt

The National Assembly has taken a firm stance against the attachment and potential sale of a vehicle belonging to Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, citing concerns over a debt reportedly owed to Kakamega businessman Robert Luttah.

Represented by lawyer Andrew Emacar, the assembly has moved to halt the auction proceedings initiated by Aemok Auctioneers, seeking a court order to prevent the sale of motor vehicle KDK 037L. The court decree in question amounts to Sh565,712.

In a notice of motion dated May 9, 2024, the assembly has petitioned the court to intervene, requesting that the vehicle be released to them. Their argument rests on the assertion that MP Salasya has not fully repaid the car loan extended to him by Parliament for the purchase of the vehicle.

Highlighting the financial stake held by the National Assembly, Deputy Clerk to the Assembly, Serah Kioko, emphasized that the vehicle was jointly registered under both Salasya and the assembly's ownership, serving as collateral to safeguard their interests.

The assembly's intervention underscores their concern of potential financial loss should the vehicle be sold off. Their legal maneuver aims to secure their rightful claim over the vehicle, preserving their financial security.
