Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has kept his promise of paying return bus fare for students stranded in the city after the government issued a late directive postponing the official opening dates to next week.
Speaking in a radio interview on Monday, governor Sakaja expressed his willingness to help students around CBD who were affected by the impromptu directive from the ministry of education.
"I have seen a few photos showing some students who are stranded. So when I leave here I will go and pay for their bus fare for their return home. I will also buy them soda so that they have something to eat," Sakaja said
In addition to the stranded students, Sakaja revealed that the Dishi na County food Programme that had been prepared for the schools will be distributed to the camps hosting flood victims.
“There is too much food I even think some of it will be taken to prisons. They are 184,000 plates and those in the camps are 14,000. We have planned the logistics on how that food will be transported even to places where there is need," Sakaja noted

Sakaja also defended the education CS Ezekiel Machogu for the late delivery of
the news saying he might also have received the information late hence he is
not to blame.
