Matatu owners association has opposed the government measures on bringing back the NTSA on the roads.
Speaking during a press on Wednesday in Nairobi, the Matatu owners association CEO Patricia Mutheu said that the efforts made by the government to address the road safety issues will only be successful if they work together.
“We strongly believe that the collaboration and dialogue between industry players and the government are critical in tackling issues related to road safety,” she stated.
The matatu association has disregarded the national public vehicle crackdown ordered by the roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen, saying it will get things out of hand.
“We are investors, we are urging the government to stop the use of crackdown, let us have a friendlier way of addressing this so that we can support our business,” the MOA president Albert Karakacha said
Suggestively the chairman said that the government should instead give more powers to traffic commandants and increase mobile police to manage traffic in specific regions.
This comes a day after the roads CS announced measures directed to curb the increasing road accidents in the country.
