Lieutenant General Charles Kahariri Appointed as the Chief of Defence Forces

President William Ruto has promoted lieutenant general Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank the chief of defences, replacing the late General Ogolla who died in a helicopter crash.

Being the commander in chief of the armed forces, President William Ruto has the authority to promote and appoint the chief of defense forces which is the highest rank in Kenya’s defence forces.

Gen Kahariri is now a four-star general second in command after the president.

The Kenya Airforce commander Major General John Omenda has been named as the Vice Chief of Defence Forces.

On the other hand, Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed has been appointed to fill the position of the Kenya Air force Commander, becoming the first female commander in Kenya.
