Kindiki orders Kenyans within the Dabel mining site areas to vacate immediately

Interior cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki has declared 13 areas in Marsabit mining site as disturbed areas with the escalating gang violence.

Following a gazette notice on Thursday 14th march, people living the affected areas have been ordered to vacate with immediate effect.

“Following a spate of grave security breaches at the Dabel Artisanal mining sites within Golbo division of Marsabit County, the government has taken measures to arrest the escalation of violence and other criminal activities in the area. Effective 0630 hours today, 14th march, the Dabel artisanal mining sites described in Gazette notice no.3032 of even date, have been declared dangerous and disturbed and vacation orders issued,” statement read

Additionally he announced that no one will be allowed in the area without permission from the authority and it will be under domination of national security agencies.

So far seven deaths have been reported in the group fights over the control of the gold mine site in Marsabit.

The affected areas incude Hilo Gorgora, Hilo Orofa, Hilo Walkite, Hilo Tanzania, Hilo Iress Abamartile, Hilo Gootu and Hilo Tessum Qalicha, Hilo Karray, Hilo Hudda, Hilo Qoranjido, Hilo Irress Shindia, Hilo Rabaalee and Hilo Godde Haroressa.
