Kenyans shine at the London Marathon after Kiptum's tribute

The late Kiptum’s friend Mutiso Munyao emerged victorious at the London marathon on Sunday.

The late Kiptum had won last year’s competition and was preparing for this year’s race but faced a car accident in February which killed him. Before the race started a moment of applause was dedicated as a tribute and honor of the late Kiptum.

According to Mutiso Munyao,Kiptum wa a great friend and he was in his mind during the whole race.

“He’s in my thoughts every time, because he was my great friend. It was a good day for me.” Munyao said

In the womens race Peres Jepchirchir took the win finishing the race in 2hours 16minutes with Aseffa in second and Joyciline Jepkosgei in third. With this win Jepchirchir was able to defend her title in the Olympics.
