Kenya Railways halts commuter trains over heavy rain deluge in the country

Kenya Railways has issued a statement suspending all commuter train services due to the ongoing heavy rains in the country that have affected the rail lines.

In a statement on Wednesday the management said this was a precautionary measure to ensure safety of the customers.

“We wish to notify members of the public that commuter train services have been temporarily suspended due to the ongoing heavy rains that have affected the rail lines. We are compelled to take these precautionary measures because the safety of our customers is always of paramount importance to us. We will advise you once normal services resume. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused”, the statement read.

Kenya Railway’s commuter train carries to and from the Nairobi city center daily across Embakasi, Syokimau, Limuru, Lukenya and Ruiru.

The heavy rains have been wreaking havoc in Nairobi leading to closure of some roads due to floods and residents being displaced from their homes.
