Kenya power nationwide campaign on upgrade of power meters

Kenya Power Company embarks on a new Token Identifier project an upgrade to the current power meters.

The Kenya power and lighting company has made a call to Kenyans to upgrade their power meters by 24th November 2024 to avoid been locked out of their services.

Speaking in a media sensitization event in Mombasa, Phineas Marete the KPLC coast Regional manager confirmed that the KPLC is currently doing an upgrade on its customer’s meters under the Token Identifier Project.

“We are currently doing media campaigns and roadshows to inform our customers about the project,” he stated.

Additionally he has warned Kenyans to beware of fraudsters who will cease the opportunity to ask for money for the upgrading. He clarified that the KPLC staff that will be carrying out the project will have their identification badges so the fraudsters are easily identified and apprehended.

“Going forward, our message to the customers will be do not pay any monies outside the official KPLC pay points,” Marete stated
