Intern doctors now acknowledged as junior doctors

In efforts to get doctors back to work, the ministry of public service has agreed on the scheme of service to take interns as junior doctors as requested by the KMPDU.

The decision was made in a planned meeting, attended by the council of governors, Kenya medical practitioners and dentists union, salaries and remuneration commission, the Kenya federation of employers and the central organization o trade unions.

The public service CS Moses kuria confirmed the reports saying the intern doctors will now join the public service as  junior doctors and will be receiving stipends as agreed by the Salaries and remuneration commission (SRC).

“The ministry of public service has put in place measures to pit the intern doctors into the public service scheme as junior doctors or foundation doctors,’ kuria said

Speaking in Nyamira on Friday, CS Kuria called on doctors to resume duties saying it was not right for them to stop providing emergency services at public hospitals for better wages
