Health CS: striking doctors to forfeit pay amid absence of duty

Health Cabinet secretary Susan Nakhumicha has announced that there will be no pay for the striking health workers for failure to show up to their work stations.

According to CS Nakhumicha the government has already agreed to the bigger percentage of their demands and the striking doctors still refuted going back.

“If someone does not work for 40 days, should they be paid? It is the person who has worked that deserves to be paid,” Nakhumicha said

She further pointed out that the government should resolve the issues with Health practitioners for good to avoid the strikes that keep happening every time over the same issues.

CS Nakhumicha was speaking in Kisumu during the World Malaria day celebration.

On Wednesday, at least 17 counties had already issued dismissal letters to the striking doctors for not reporting to work.
