Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry finally agrees to resign

The Haitian prime minister Ariel Henry has agreed to resign after increased pressure from various parties and the escalating chaos in the country.

Ariel Henry made the announcement in a video address urging Haitians to maintain order for the country to be stable again.

“I want to thank the Haitian people for the opportunity I had been granted. The government that I am leading will resign immediately after the installation of a transition council. I’m asking all Haitians to remain calm and do everything they can for peace and stability to come back as fast as possible,” he stated.

Reports say that the transitional presidential council will include two observers and seven voting members, among them being representatives from several coalitions, the private sector and civil society and one religious leader.

On the other hand the Kenyan government has said it will continue with the deployment of its officers to Haiti despite the escalating violence in the region. PM Ariel henry had gone to Kenya  to sign an agreement seeking help on dealing with the coalition gangs who had escalated the chaos.
