Former president Uhuru Kenyatta has shared his condolences with flood victims following the heavy rains being experienced in the country and pledged a cash donation of Ksh 2 million to the Red Cross to aid the situation.
In a statement on Tuesday, Uhuru sympathized with affected individuals following their displacement and property destructions and those whose loved ones have been claimed by the floods.
“This relentless rainfall has caused significant damage, displacing families, destroying infrastructure, and claiming precious lives. During this time of profound loss and despair, my thoughts and prayers are with the affected communities as they cope with the aftermath of this natural disaster,” Uhuru said
The retired president donated Ksh 2 Million to aid those who have been affected saying through people’s compassionate gestures, the affected families are given hope. Additionally Uhuru urged Kenyans to stand together in this trying times.
‘It is through our shared determination and compassion that we can help rebuild lives and restore hope amidst this disruption. In a compassionate and supportive gesture, Kenyatta has pledged a personal donation of Ksh2 million to the Kenya Red Cross Society. As a nation, we must stand together in the face of adversity, demonstrating compassion, resilience, and solidarity with one another," Uhuru added
The former president urged Kenyans to be cautious and avoid dangerous areas to ensure their safety.
Major counties that have been hit by floods include Nakuru, Nairobi, Homa-Bay, Garissa, Kisumu, Mombasa, and regions within the Central, Eastern, and Rift Valley area
