The education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has confirmed that schools will reopen for the second term next week despite the heavy rains and floods being experienced in the country.
Speaking on during the inaugural annual symposium in Nairobi on Thursday, PS kipsang assured that the government has set aside a multi-agency team to help with the challenges caused by the rains.
“I know this year we have been blessed with quite some rain and I know yesterday the President directed a multi-agency team to be able to deal with the challenges that have come with the rains. I can assure all of us that as already directed by the President we are all prepared and looking forward to our children going to school next week. As a ministry, we shall be part of the multi-agency team so that we adequately walk with our colleagues to ensure that children will be safe when we go back to school next week," Kipsang said.
Currently the country is experienced heavy rains accompanied by floods that have left thousands displaced from their homes. The Kenya meteorological department also issued a warning that the floods will still continue for the next seven days.
Earlier on president Ruto also ordered Kenyans in the affected areas to move out and seek temporary refuge to avoid more casualties.
