EACC Recovers Over Sh6.6 Billion in Proceeds of Crime

In the financial year 2022/23, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) successfully traced and recovered Sh6.63 billion in proceeds of crime.

The Commission completed 40 asset-tracing inquiries, leading to significant recoveries from cases of illegal acquisition and unexplained wealth. Notable highlights include recoveries from irregular land acquisitions and fraudulent property deals across various counties.

Additionally, legal actions resulted in the filing of 62 recovery suits valued at Sh8.73 billion, showcasing the EACC's commitment to combating corruption. This relentless pursuit of accountability also saw progress in finalizing cases, with 27 convictions recorded.
