EACC Director Commends Private Sector's Efforts in Combatting Corruption

In a recent keynote address at the UN Global Compact Business Integrity Conference held at Villa Rosa Kempinski, Nairobi, John Lolkoloi, the Director for Ethics and Leadership at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), lauded the strides made by the private sector in the ongoing battle against corruption and in fostering good governance practices.

Lolkoloi highlighted the proactive engagement between the EACC and the private sector, particularly through outreach programs aimed at preventing corruption. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in cultivating a transparent and ethical business environment, urging for joint efforts in crafting anti-corruption legislation and codes of conduct for businesses.

"The public and private sector can collaborate to craft anti-corruption legislation and codes of conduct in business, as well as constantly review the effectiveness of the legislation to ensure that it serves to streamline business ethics," Lolkoloi remarked during his address.

Moreover, Lolkoloi underscored the necessity for the development, implementation, and enforcement of codes of ethics within businesses, along with bolstering support for official oversight and anti-corruption agencies.

The conference, convened by Global Compact Network Kenya, a country network of UN Global Compact, aimed to advance corporate sustainability and integrity initiatives.
