DP Gachagua apologizes to Mama Ngina Kenyatta for involving her in the 2022 elections politics

Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has asked first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta for forgiveness over the disrespect shown to her during the political squabbles in the 2022 general elections campaign fall out.

Speaking on Monday morning in an interview with journalists, DP Gachagua said that the political air was thick leading to the crossing of boundaries.

“I am really sorry for involving Mama Ngina Kenyatta in the last general election politics. She is our mother. I therefore ask for forgiveness on behalf of our team for any inconveniences cause to her. I will never allow anyone to demean her or anyone from the region,” DP Gachagua said

In March 2022, Kenya kwanza politicians insulted the former first lady, over her advice to his son, the former president Uhuru Kenyatta, telling her supporters to follow his lead. Kenya kwanza leaders told her to keep off politics.

Among other issues that the deputy president addressed during the press is the fight against illicit alcohol, saying that the government will not back down.

“We will not relent in the fight against illicit killer alcohol. My spouse pastor Dorcas Gachagua and interior CS Kithure Kindiki are determined to ensure its success,” he stated

So far about 18,650 unlicensed liquor joints have been closed in the ongoing government crackdown. New laws are also to be tabled in parliament in government efforts to fight against illicit brew and substance use.
