Chief justice Martha Koome was on Friday night feted with the African female leader of the year award 2023 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
CJ Koome expressed her owner in the recognition, saying the award was a shared achievement in the people centered judicial system in kenya.
“This ward is not mine alone to claim, it is an accolade that I dedicate wholeheartedly to the institution I am privileged to lead, the judiciary of Kenya. This recognition shines a light on our collective endeavor to establish a truly people centered justice system. A system that is responsive and attuned to the needs, experiences, especially those who are marginalized and vulnerable,” she stated
CJ Koomes leadership as the female chief justice of Kenya as well as her accomplishments in the judiciary contributed to her win. She has been on the forefront in improving accessibility to justice in advancing the judicial reforms to strengthen the Kenyan rule of law.
The African persons of the year awards celebrate individuals who contribute significantly to the African continent advancement and transformation on the global stage. The event has been taking place for the past 12 years with stakeholders across Africa discussing issues of concern on Africa’s socio-economic growth and development
