Azimio coalition forewarns Kenyans on further increase in taxes

'Kenya kwanza regime is coming after you in a second wave of taxes'

The Azimio la Umoja party have shown their displeasure in the budget policy statement (BPS) 2024 claiming it has confirmed their speculated increase in taxes.

Azimio la Umoja said that the implementation of the BPS will affect the already suffering Kenyans and worsen the current state of livelihoods, whereby in their statement on February 22, the Kenya kwanza regime plans on inflicting a double taxation which includes tax on goods and services supplied by the government and imposing VAT on education which will lead to increase in school fees.

The azimio coalition said the Kenya kwanza regime is irredeemable, while referring to this year’s Budget Policy Statement as indefinite with promising tittles, with intentions of raising expenditures and spending for the lacking Kenyans.

The coalition further proposed that the government should concentrate on reducing its spending to mitigate the high cost of living and boost economic growth. “We believe that the country will thrive when the regime moderates its expenditure, reduces wastages and adopts a right-based and zero-based budgeting approach, “Statement read.

Azimio also pushed for the rejection of the affordable housing levy bill by the senators, saying it’s a burden for Kenyans. However the opposition promised to work hand in hand with the government to create an environment capable of manufacturing and attracting investors to create more job opportunities for Kenyans.
